Time Machine
From Geospike DocWiki
Time Machine is a truly remarkable piece of engineering.
- It is a great backup solution that is almost zero configuration (just plug in a new HDD!)
- It's incredibly cheap (any generic external HDD will suffice)
- It has a pretty UI to find your files, AND all your files are accessible manually via the Finder, great for normal users and advanced users alike
- Provides you redundancy (files are on a separate HDD)
If you use Mac OS X, then please, do yourself a favour and buy the worlds most in-expensive and cheapest backup solutions by finding an external HDD, plugging it in, and turning on Time Machine!
Only word of caution, by default Time Machine won't backup *other* external HDD's, to do this, you must manually un-exclude them from the Time Machine settings. This is actually a smart default, as you don't want to go backing up every HDD you plug into your machine, but for the ones that you do, remember to do this.
