It's easy to get a latitude, longitude (lat, lng) coordinate out of Google Maps – but you need to enable the feature manually.

Steps:

  1. Ensure you are logged in at http://maps.google.com/ with your Google Account
  2. Visit this URL: http://maps.google.com/maps?showlabs=1 this will bring up the Google Maps Labs options
  3. Scroll and enable LatLng Marker
  4. Now on the map, right click anywhere and select 'Drop LatLng Marker'
  5. And now you have a marker! You can select & copy the coordinate if you like.

If you need to correct a spike, you can use these coordinate and input them in directly!
